Orcerin 50mg capsule is a prodrug that is metabolized with rhein, which reduces the breakdown of cartilage. It blocks the action of the beta interleukin-1 protein, which is responsible for the destruction of cartilage and osteoarthritis that causes inflammation such as degenerative joint diseases. The drug is specific in action and does not inhibit prostaglandin synthesis.

This medicine is used to treat pain, swelling, and tissue degeneration (destruction) associated with osteoarthritis. The symptomatic relief provided by this drug takes some time and is therefore given in combination with other pain relievers at the start of treatment.
