Febutaz 40mg tablet is used to reduce the symptoms of gouty arthritis. It belongs to a group of drugs called xanthine oxidase inhibitors. The medication works by lowering uric acid levels by blocking the enzyme xanthine oxidase. This enzyme helps the body produce uric acid from xanthine. Elevated levels of uric acid in the blood can lead to gout and related symptoms.

Febutaz 40mg tablet is used to prevent and in the treatment of gout. Gout is caused because of the high level of acid in the body. When levels get too high, crystals can form in and around some joints and kidneys. It can cause sudden and severe pain, redness, warmth, and swelling. This medicine works by preventing the formation of crystals and lowering the level of uric acid in the blood. This reduces the likelihood of symptoms and alleviates them if you have them. It is usually for long-term treatment and must be taken regularly until the dose is complete.

This drug belongs to the class of xanthine oxidase inhibitors. It works by inhibiting the enzyme xanthine oxidase, then inhibits the conversion of hypoxanthine to xanthine to uric acid without affecting the enzymes involved in the synthesis of purines and pyrimidines.
